Raising The Social Security Retirement Age Is The Wrong Approach

ssposter

The American people deserve true entitlement reform. Raising the retirement age doesn’t reform an unsustainable system. It simply kicks the can down the road, allowing the current cabal of establishment political elites to continue in office, without making any real decisions on this issue.

What is needed is true reform. We need a system whereby citizens are allowed to build their own retirement accounts from an early age, rather than to pay into a broken ponzi-scheme system their entire lives, in hopes they live long enough for the government to dribble out a few crumbs for them to live on in their later years.

Not only is the current system unsustainable, it doesn’t even allow average citizens to comfortably retire. If today’s young worker had funds removed from their paycheck and placed in a personal retirement account, rather then allowing the government to get their thieving, incompetent hands on the money, we would all be much better off.

Gamecocks Crush Clemson In Route To SEC Championship Game

scvsclemson

The South Carolina Gamecocks rode the arm of Stephen Garcia in a 29-7 rout of the Clemson Tigers on Saturday. The Tigers were never in contention during the game, with the only spark coming in their first drive, which resulted in a touchdown.

Stephen Garcia was 14 of 30 for 227 yards and threw for two touchdowns, while Alshon Jeffery finished with five catches for 141 yards.

The Tigers’ game plan was to contain Marcus Lattimore and they were successful in that effort but the Gamecocks have a effective passing attack, which proved to be too much for Clemson.

The Gamecocks will face the undefeated Auburn Tigers for the SEC Championship on December 4th at the Georgia Dome. Auburn narrowly defeated the Gamecocks earlier in the year. A Carolina win could derail Auburn’s quest for a national championship.

Marcus Lattimore rushed for a career-high 212 yards on 40 carries and three touchdowns, leading the Gamecocks to their first SEC east title. South Carolina dominated the Florida Gators in a convincing 36-14 victory to get their first ever win in “The Swamp”.

QB Steven Garcia completed 15 of 22 passes for 156 yards, running for 28 yards and a touchdown, while WR Alshon Jeffery had six catches for 53 yards.

The Gamecocks will face the Auburn Tigers for the SEC Championship on December 4th at the Georgia Dome. Auburn narrowly defeated the Gamecocks earlier in the year. The rematch will be one of the most highly anticipated SEC games of the season.

GOP Leaders Continue To Support The Earmark Bribe Culture

mitch-tmb1

It’s not surprising the political establishment elite in D.C. don’t want to give up the carrots they dangle in front of colleagues when trying to get their vote for a piece of legislation. This is just more of the same old corrupt process politicians use to pass flawed and costly legislation on Capital Hill. Most voters are outraged over this kind of outright bribery and have had enough of it.

According to Politco, GOP establishment leader Mitch McConnell is plotting behind the scenes to oppose an earmark ban.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is maneuvering behind the scenes to defeat a conservative plan aimed at restricting earmarks, setting up a high-stakes showdown that pits the GOP leader and his “Old Bull” allies against Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and a new breed of conservative senators.

The argument that earmarks only amount to a few billion dollars, in a budget of trillions, completely misses the point. Citizens are wising up and are demanding the process for passing legislation be reformed to eliminate the corrupt process of earmarks, which are slipped into legislation at the last minute as a bribe to get those last few votes.

Certainly, states need funds appropriated for critical projects but those appropriations need to be discussed openly in committee, debated openly on the floor of congress and given an up or down vote, based on merit, not on political favoritism or bribes for votes.

We need to contact our elected officials and let them know how we feel. We should strongly urge them to support the ban on earmarks, lest we replace them with someone who will.
