Facebook Continues To Violate American’s Free Speech Rights

no_facebook

Facebook’s assault on the first amendment continues with the censoring of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s post criticizing King Obama’s backdoor illegal alien amnesty decree. Facebook has since apologized, characterizing the censorship as a “mistake”, but this is just latest example in a long list of similar actions by Facebook.

Sarah Palin was censored in a similar manner last year, when she made a post criticizing the decision to build a mosque near ground zero. Facebook once again apologized. Sarah Palin and Jan Brewer gets an apology, but what about the average Facebook poster? Do you think they get an apology and are allowed to repost their previously censored opinions? Certainly not.

The following is just a small list of Fascistbook’s trampling of the first amendment by censoring opinion.

It would appear that nothing short of a lawsuit will clean things up at Facebook

Facebook to Tea Party: No more organizing

Facebook – self appointed arbiter of “free speech” – tells Tea Party no more organizing

A cursory web search reveals the problem of censorship at Facebook is widespread and far reaching. In many cases, the censorship appears to be ideologically driven or based on a political agenda.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Facebook arrogantly suggested..

“We are occasionally held in uncomfortable positions because now we’re allowing too much, maybe, free speech in countries that haven’t experienced it before,”

Is this Facebook’s position on the free speech controversy? Facebook is “allowing” too much free speech and what is needed is more censorship?

Perhaps it’s time for Americans to censor Facebook from our computers and turn away from a social networking platform that seems to have little or no concern for citizen’s free speech rights under the constitution.

SC Point Of Sale Law: H.3713 (If you can afford a 2nd home, Nikki Haley has your back)

fatcathaley

Today, amid much self-aggrandizing, Nikki Haley signed into law the new “Point of Sale bill” (H.3713). H.3713 was supposed to correct an issue with legislation from 2006, specifically: Act 388, which reassessed property values (normally upward) at the time the property is purchased. H.3713 was intended to decrease this new assessment by 25%, so as not to burden an already shaky real estate market.

Sounds like a pretty good plan, right?

Well, not so fast there Tea Partiers. Neocon Nikki and her progressive buddies have other plans. The property tax break isn’t going to apply to the average S.C. taxpayer. It’s only for those who can afford to purchase a 2nd (or 3rd) home. That’s right. It doesn’t apply to a primary residence. But that’s OK, We’re all planning on buying an ocean front house at Myrtle Beach and another mountain spread up on the Cliffs of Glassy, right?

The reality is quite different for a significant number of SC residents, who are (or have been) involved in a foreclosure. Additionally, property taxes can be the largest yearly expense for the elderly and those on fixed or limited incomes. That’s closer to the reality of the situation many find themselves in. This leaves many Carolinians wondering if the tax breaks are really going to the right people?

Isn’t Nikki Haley supposed to be a small government, lower taxes, Tea Party movement backed candidate? If so, why not extend the property tax breaks to everyone? Why are the tax breaks extended to only the most affluent citizens in the state? Perhaps it’s because establishment politicians can’t help but grow the size and scope of government, and it doesn’t matter if they’ve previous wrapped themselves in the “Don’t tread on me” flag. Haley’s support of this bill typifies the kind of hypocrisy we see in our state government.

Governor Haley, I’m still waiting on the cuts and the smaller, more efficient, less intrusive government you promised. Remember your gubernatorial campaign? We do. No more record budgets, please.

The fact of the matter is, Haley needs more revenue to feed the bloated and wasteful bureaucratic beast that is our failed S.C. education system. Let’s not forget the debt riddled Transportation Department and the rest of our bloated and broken government. Rather than cut layers of bureaucrats, administrators and paper shufflers. who are just taking up space in our state government, politicians find it easier to do nothing. Well, except maybe to pass out special favors and tax breaks to those who help them get elected. That appears to be exactly what happened with H.3713.

South Carolina Senator Hugh Leatherman made the most ludicrous statement of this entire spectacle, opining..

“I’ve always heard if nobody’s happy, it’s a pretty good compromise,” Leatherman said.

Only by using political pretzel logic can a plan that everyone hates be considered a success. This is what you get when you “compromise” …on your principles.

We can only imagine the great compromise that will be reached when Nikki rolls out her shiny new state sales tax swap. Stay tuned for that debacle.

Sadly, these days, it seems more often than not, the Statehouse political elite appear to be working against the best interest of the citizens in our great state of South Carolina.

Progressives Attempt To Destroy Our Republic With Soros Funded Popular Vote Group

gwtear

A major push to circumvent our constitutional method of electing a president is currently being efforted by the 501(c) organization National Popular Vote Inc., a George Soros funded who’s who of the progressive left. With the recent addition of California to the list, nine states have now signed into law a bill that awards all of the state’s electoral college votes to the winner of the “national” popular vote for president.

These nine states have provided this dangerous and unconstitutional movement 132 of the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency. Once this group has 270 electoral votes, the electoral college will be rendered moot, the constitution will be undermined and the U.S. President will be elected based on popular vote.

Why is electing a president by national popular vote a bad idea?

Our founding fathers understood that pure Democracy (majority/mob rules) can lead to the curtailing or elimination of liberty for the minority or stated another way; pure Democracy leads to tyranny of the majority. 50%+1 of the population can impose their will on the remaining 50%-1 of the population. History has shown us that this can lead to, among other things, dictatorships, totalitarianism, discrimination and slavery.

Under a National Popular Vote, 100% of the citizens in a state could vote for candidate A and all of the state’s electoral college votes go to candidate B, rending small states powerless and the will of the people in the state irrelevant.

It’s a ridiculous idea dreamed up by George Soros Stooges in an attempt to circumvent the constitution and ensure a progressive will always control the administrative branch.

Federalism

There is also the issue of Federalism, state’s rights and state sovereignty. This concept can be easily understood by looking at the structure of the U.S. Senate. Each state, no matter the population in the state, sends two Senators to Washington to represent the interests of that state. No one state has more power in the Senate that any other state. This helps to ensure that larger, more populated states cannot impose their will on smaller, less populated states.

The same concept applies to the electoral college and the presidential election. We cannot allow a few large states to decide who our president will be. All states must be fairly represented and the electoral college helps to ensure that all states have a voice.

Collectivism, Progressives and Funding

The national popular vote movement grew out of the 2000 election, where George W. Bush won the presidency but Al Gore won the popular vote. This infuriated the left in America so they decided if they could convince the larger states to support a national popular vote for president, a few of the largest, most progressive states would control who is elected president, ensuring that a progressive would always control the administrative branch.

That’s when billionaire George Soros stepped in to fund and support the movement via his myriad 502(c) outfits, such as the Progressive States Network and Common Cause.

Common Cause has received $2 million from Soros’s Open Society Institute in the past eight years, according to grant data provided by Capital Research Center. Two panelists at Common Cause’s rival conference nearby — President Obama’s former green jobs czar, Van Jones, and blogger Lee Fang — work at the Center for American Progress, which was started and funded by Soros but, as a 501(c)4 nonprofit “think tank,” legally conceals the names of its donors.

A reprint of this WSJ article by Jonathon Soros appears on the National Popular Vote website.

It’s Time to Junk the Electoral College
We don’t need an amendment to do it.

The Constitution is no longer in line with our expectations regarding the role of the people in selecting the President.

Mr. Soros is the deputy chairman of Soros Fund Management and a supporter of the National Popular Vote.

Conclusion
The progressives in America have embarked on an effort to circumvent the intent of the constitution and take permanent control the presidency. Progressives are not concerned with Federalism or “Tyranny of the Majority”, as long as they are the majority.

Democrats Attempt To Shift Blame For The Obama Downgrade

obama-sad

In a transparent attempt to shift the blame for S&P’s credit downgrade of the federal government, Obama trots out his surrogates to blame the Tea Party movement and S&P for his disastrous fiscal policy. The administration’s allies in the media are also on board with the narrative, as websites from Salon to Huffpo attempt to deflect attention away from Obama’s epic failure to lead us out of our financial crisis.

In yet another out of touch and meaningless speech, President Obama steps in front of the microphone today and proposes new taxes be raised to pay for even more stimulus sending. Not even the lowering of America’s credit rating can move President Downgrade away from his ideological tax and spend agenda.

Obama doesn’t deserve all the blame for America’s massive debt but he (and his party) are certainly to blame for the credit downgrade. The Democrats intransigent stance regarding the amount and timeliness of spending cuts led directly to the credit downgrade. The GOP had offered several plans that would have satisfied S&P, including Cut, Cap & Balance. Evidently, the idea of a balanced budget is a radical notion (and DOA) in the hotbed of progressivism known as the U.S. Senate.

The problem is that Bush increased the national debt from $6 trillion to over $10 trillion during his eight years in office, an increase in the debt of over $4 trillion, which is outrageous.

Instead of solving our debt problems as promised, Obama has increased the national debt by $4 trillion in less than four years and is now increasing the debt by $1.5 trillion a year. At that rate, Obama will have increased the national debt by more than $10 trillion in an eight year period, which is even more outrageous. At the current rate of spending, by the end of two terms, Obama will have incurred more debt than all of the previous presidents combined, including Bush.

The very enlightening chart below shows how the national debt has been increased, depending whether the Democrats or Republicans control congress.

Click for larger image

It is interesting that when Democrats are in control of Congress or when the Congress is split (as it is now), debt as a percentage of GDP increases. However, when the GOP are in control or Congress, debt as a percentage of GDP decreases or stays flat.

Regardless of who is in control of congress and in light of Obama’s failed stimulus, it should be clear that increasing taxes and massive federal spending will never solve America’s debt crisis.

The idea that increased revenue would be used by politicians to pay down the debt is patently absurd. History has shown us that any increased tax revenue will most certainly be used to grow the size of government, not to decrease our national debt. That is the sad truth, no matter what the politicians are currently claiming.
